An invitation for social activists

The Loretto Community is committed to supporting social change toward a more just and peaceful world. We understand that such work is challenging, constant and stressful, and requires attention to self-care on the part of those involved. We also know that places of quiet and times of rest can contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of those doing the work of social change, thereby contributing to both personal and social transformation.  For that purpose, Loretto is making a house of retreat available, free of charge, for activists from Kentucky and southern Indiana who are seeking grounding and renewal in the quiet beauty of a rural setting.

About Mockingbird Hill

“Mockingbird Hill House” is owned by the Sisters of Loretto and is located in central KY, just across the road from the Loretto Motherhouse campus. It has a full kitchen and dining area, living room, 3 bedrooms, 1½ baths, an enclosed sun porch and Wi-Fi service, and can accommodate from 1 to 4 people.  Besides providing a quiet environment for personal renewal, it is also an ideal setting for small group planning.

Guests are invited to stay from 2 to 6 nights, and to enjoy Loretto’s 800-acre property across the road which includes woods, easy walking trails and 3 small lakes.  Due to COVID restrictions, we regret that the main Motherhouse campus and buildings are closed to the public.
